Twitter More Effective Than Loudhailers?
At the end of the "March for the Alternative" today (26th March) in London I noticed the Police using Twitter to communicate with protestors who had set about causing mayhem in Trafalgar Square.
The "Official Twitter channel of CO11, The Public Order Branch of the Metropolitan Police" rather catchily named @CO11MetPolice used Tweets instead of (or in addition too?) Loud Hailers to inform protestors, tagging their messages #UKUncut to ensure the message got through:
Great that the Met are embracing these technologies.
See also this exchange tonight, trying to communicate some positive PR:
Just an experiment, or part of the future of policing?
